1970 – Emerson, Lake and Palmer made their first live concert appearance, playing at Plymouth Guild Hall in Plymouth, England.

1970 – Elton John made his live debut in the United States opening for David Ackles at “The Troubadour” in Los Angeles.

1973 – The Allman Brothers released “Ramblin’ Man.”

1973 – Butch Trucks of The Allman Brothers broke his leg in a car crash in Macon, Georgia.

1975 – Bruce Springsteen released his classic album Born to Run.

1976 – Boston released their eponymous debut album.

1979 – Gary Numan released the single “Cars.”

1986 – Paul Simon released his Graceland album.

1994 – The marriage between Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley was formally dissolved by a New York judge.

1994 – Jimmy Buffett’s plane flipped shortly after takeoff in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Luckily, Buffett was able to swim to safety.

1994 – Robert Plant and Jimmy Page reunited in a London studio to record “Unledded,” their version of MTV’s “Unplugged” show.
