1963 – The Beatles appeared on “Sunday Night at the Palladium” in Britain, marking their first appearance on a major television show.

1970 – The ashes of Janis Joplin were scattered off the California coast.

1975 – Neil Young underwent surgery in Los Angeles to repair his vocal chords.

1980 – AC/DC’s Back in Black went platinum.

1982 – KISS released the album Creatures of the Night.

1992 – The U.S. Supreme Court decided not to reinstate lawsuits against Ozzy Osbourne alleging that his music prompted the suicide of two teenagers.

1998 – The Crossroads Centre opened in Antigua. The rehabilitation center was underwritten by guitar legend Eric Clapton, who promised that no one in need of treatment for drug and alcohol addiction would be turned away.
