1957 – Buddy Holly & the Crickets released “Oh Boy!”
1963 – The Hollies began recording their debut album.
1971 – Duane Allman was killed when he was involved in a motorcycle accident in Macon, Georgia.
1975 – Joan Baez joined up with Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue.
1977 – Meat Loaf released Bat Out Of Hell.
1990 – The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted The Byrds, LaVern Baker, John Lee Hooker, The Impressions, Wilson Pickett, Jimmy Reed and Ike & Tina Turner into its ranks.
1991 – Three members of Pink Floyd were injured in a Mexican auto race.
1996 – A judge in Pasadena, California dropped drug possession charges against Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland after concluding that he had taken great strides toward recovery in rehab.
1998 – Steven Adler gave himself up to authorities and began serving a sentence of 150 days for two counts of battery and violation of probation.
