‘Heroes’ Returning to NBC

NBC has announced that Heroes was returning to the network for a special 2015 miniseries event. There will be 13 episodes produced (and will follow a stand-alone story arc), and original creator and executive producer Tim Kring will be in charge.

NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke had the following to say about the new show, “The enormous impact ‘Heroes’ had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening. Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept. Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”

NBC will produce a digital series prior to the 2015 premiere that will introduce the characters and new storylines.

  1. I am skeptical. Tim Kring didn’t do a very good job the first time around. If this turns out to be a 90210 type reboot where the original cast only pops up here and there, I won’t like that. Then you might as well start fresh with a new name for the show because what is the point? The ratings were horrible at the end of the series.

  2. I don’t really want to see the original cast. I would rather a brand new cast with no ‘guest appearances’ to go with new arc. We’ll have to see. The digital series will reveal quite a bit of what we can expect.

  3. I think they need to have a new cast at this point. The last few seasons left a bad taste in my mouth. The problem is almost all of the cast probably isn’t doing anything these days and would be very available, so it’s likely we’ll see some if not most of them if they offer them a role.
