Katherine McPhee Joins ‘Smash’

American Idol alumni Katharine McPhee has been cast in Steven Spielberg’s musical drama Smash. The drama, which Spielberg is producing, also stars Debra Messing and has been picked up by NBC.

The show “revolves around a cross section of characters who come together to mount a Broadway musical inspired by silver screen icon Marilyn Monroe.”
