James Van Der Beek To Portray Himself In New ABC Series

ABC network is confirming that Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek will play himself in an upcoming comedy project entitled Apartment 23.

It’s expected that the portrayal will be a “heightened” version, however. Formerly known as Don’t Trust the Bi— in Apt. 23, the series is about an earnest Midwestern girl, June [played by The Good Wife‘s Dreama Walker], forced to move in with an amoral NYC party girl, Chloe [portrayed by Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars alum Krysten Ritter].

Van Der Beek will play Chloe’s best friend, a part originally written with former ‘N SYNC band member Lance Bass in mind. The role is reportedly in the process of being entirely re-written.

American Dad‘s Nahnatchka Khan wrote and will executive produce the pilot. Modern Family‘s Jason Winer will direct. Dave Hemingson will also executive produce.
