Supernatural: Tragedy And Loss For The Winchester Brothers

Pilots can be hit or miss, but Supernatural has one of the best television show pilots in our opinion. In this episode, the tone is set for the series and we’re introduced to the Winchester brothers – Dean, who has followed in his father’s footsteps of hunting the paranormal, and then Sam, who has tried to escape that life. We learn that the brothers lost their mothers when Sam was but a baby, and fast forward to present day – and Sam has now lost his girlfriend.

Loss is a continual theme in Supernatural for the Winchester brothers. In the beginning of Season 2, the brothers face an equally tragic loss when their father, John, sacrifices himself to save them. In promotion with the Season 2 Blu-ray DVD release, we wanted to ask Supernatural fans – what does family mean to you? If something supernatural happened to someone you loved – would you have the same reaction as the Winchester brothers? Sound off in our comment section below and help spread the word about Supernatural: The Complete Second Season on Blu-ray!

Family is the most important thing in my life, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for them.
If either my big brother or my parents were in danger I would not think twice and I would be willing to sacrifice myself to help them.
I have always put family first in my life, I guess that’s why since the first moment I put my eyes on SPN I was captivate by it and since then I’ve been in love with the thematic of Show.

Thanks for your comment Adriana! I completely agree with you. I think the theme of family is one of the best elements of Supernatural. I can’t imagine that someone wouldn’t be searching for answers if something like what happened in the pilot episode happened to someone. I think that Sam and Dean have one of the best relationships on TV.
