‘X-Men’ Beats ‘Godzilla’ for Number One Box Office Spot
The new X-Men film has beaten the monster flick Godzilla at the U.S. box office with a $90.7 million weekend take.
The all-star X-Men: Days of Future Past dominated at cinemas across the U.S. and is now on track to make at least $110 million over the four-day weekend – making it the second-largest holiday opening for the franchise.
Meanwhile, Godzilla continues to roar at the U.S. box office, taking in a second -weekend $31.43 million over the weekend. The film has now made over $148 million.
Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler’s latest comedy Blended comes in third with an opening weekend haul of $14.25 million.
Neighbors and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 round out the new top five, according to studio estimates. The official box office results will be released on Monday.
