Beyoncé , Sofia Vergara, Angelina Jolie Make Forbes’ Most Powerful Women List

Forbes has released their World’s 100 Most Powerful Women of 2014 list, and a lot of women you’d expect (but whom you also respect) made the cut, including music mogul Beyoncé,  Modern Family funny-lady Sofia Vergara, actress/philanthropist Angelina Jolie, among others.

The “Drunk In Love” hitmaker is among the only celebrities in the top 20 – at 17, while newly-single Colombian actress Vergara comes in at 32, and Jolie just makes the top 50 at 50.

The publication releases a list each year of the world’s heaviest-hitting women who fall under one or more of 8 categories: billionaires, business, celebrity, finance, media, philanthropy and NGOs, politics and technology. The women are chosen and ranked based on 4 ideals:money, media presence, spheres of influence and impact.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Most Powerful Women list and, interestingly enough, there are eight women who appeared on the original 2004 list that still remain on the 2014 list: Oprah Winfrey, Queen Elizabeth II, Ho Ching, Hillary Clinton, Indra Nooyi, Amy Pascal, Christine Lagarde and Melinda Gates

Also included on the 2014 list were Lady Gaga,  Ellen DeGeneres, and Shakira. German Chancellor Angela Merkel topped the list at #1.
