Tyler Perry Launching His Own Network

Tyler Perry is launching his own cable television network. Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer announced today that Lionsgate would be backing the network.

“Tyler is one of those rare resources that one could launch a channel with,” said Feltheimer. “We have a lot of options if we choose to go down that path.”

The plan is to buy a current channel that is not fully distributed and rebrand it, or “pursue a ‘nesting strategy’ with a channel it already has, including TV Guide.”
