Audience members went wild on Tuesday night when a pair of Harry Styles and Niall Horan lookalikes appeared in the crowd.
Liam Fergusson and Richard Dickinson, both of whom bear uncanny resemblances to their counterparts in One Direction, were mobbed upon their arrival at the band’s show in Edinburgh, Scotland. The pair had to be escorted from the stadium by security guards after show-goers mistook Fergusson and Dickinson for the real stars.
Dickinson tells Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper:
“It was the craziest thing… When we got into Murrayfield, we were completely surrounded… People were running from the seated areas to the barriers. People were grabbing onto me. It got pretty bad. The next thing I know, this big security guard came and got us… We had to be escorted out the stadium. I was glad when it was all over.”
Although the riot came as a surprise, the two 17-year-olds are no strangers to the comparisons. They impersonate Styles and Horan on a regular basis, performing as 2/5 of tribute band One and Only Direction.
The resemblance is often difficult to deal with, admits Dickinson’s mother to the Mirror: “He’s stopped all the time, in the street and at work but he’s just a normal 17-year-old boy. (…) “It’s quite stressful for him – he’s become the boy who looks like Harry – it’s almost like he’s famous.”
One Direction are currently on their “Where We Are” 2014 Stadium Tour.
