‘Game of Thrones’ Star Pedro Pascal to Star in Netflix’s Escobar Series

Oberyn Martell faced quite a fate in last week’s Game of Thrones – but Pedro Pascal won’t be missed too long. The 39-year-old actor is set to portray DEA officer Javier Pena in a new series that centers around drug kingpin Pablo Escobar.

The new Netflix drama, titled Narcos, will chronicle Escobar’s exploits in the cocaine world and law enforcement’s attempts to keep up.

Brazilian actor Wagner Moura, known for his role as “Spider” in 2013’s Elysium, will portray the famed Colombian drug lord himself.

Chris Brancato will write for Narcos and RoboCop‘s Jose Padilha will direct. The show will be shot on location in Colombia and is set to debut in 2015.

Pascal currently plays Don John in the Public Theater’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing” in Central Park.
