E3 2014: Minecraft for the PlayStation 4 gets new trailer
Minecraft was recently announced for an August release on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One. The PS4 and Xbone versions of the game feature much larger world sizes than the previous generation’s console versions. Today, Sony posted a new trailer for the game on their Youtube channel, featuring skins of beloved PlayStation characters like Kratos, Ratchet, Clank, and Nathan Drake. These skins are currently available as DLC for the PS3 version of the game – we’re assuming that this means they’ll be available on PS4 as well. No word on whether the DLC purchases carry over.
What does carry over are your worlds – you’ll be able to transfer your PS3 worlds to the PS4 version of the game. And the Vita and PS3 versions (which are more or less the same) will allow transferring back and forth, rather than just one way. Imagine, playing on your TV at home, then taking the game out and about with you while you’re away from the TV. Or perhaps while you’re cuddled up in bed, away from the PlayStation?
Finally, if you already own the PS3 version, you’ll get the Vita version for free and can upgrade to PS4 for five measly bucks. Same goes for the upgrade from Xbox 360 to Xbox One. Not bad Mojang, not bad.
