The Tony Awards aired on live on CBS Sunday night with Hugh Jackman hosting. While many memorable events happened during the show one that stood above the rest was when rappers LL Cool J and TI joined Hugh onstage to help him perform a hip-hop rendition of “The Music Man.”
Other notable moments included Bryan Cranston taking home his first Tony ever for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for his work in All the Way, Neil Patrick Harris winning his first Tony for his role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Audra McDonald making history for her sixth Tony win for her portrayal of Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill (the previous record was held by Angela Lansbury, who won five awards).
Now, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this video when I clicked play, but man am I glad that I did! Hugh held his own with the veteran rappers and all three appeared to have a ball onstage bringing a new version of an old classic to the audience.
