Steve Martin May Return for ‘Father of the Bride 3’

Steve Martin may be returning to one of his more mainstream roles. According to reports, Disney and Warner Bros. are “sorting out” the rights to the Father of the Bride franchise with Martin set to return in the starring role of George Banks.

The new film would see George’s son Matty (now twenty-nine) getting married to the son of a Navy SEAL. George is “thunderstruck and speechless” and has issues with his son’s sexuality, causing him to get kicked out of the house by his wife Nina. Charles Shyer would return as writer and director.

The Father of the Bride films grossed $89.3 million and $76.6 million for the first and second films, respectively. No word on if Diane Keaton would reprise the role of Nina or whether Kieran Culkin would be back as Matty.
