‘Designing Women’ Star Meshach Taylor Passed Away

Meschach Taylor, star of 1980s sitcom Designing Women passed away at he age of 67.

The actor passed on Saturday at his family home in Altadena, California, his agent Dede Binder confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. Reports suggest he was suffering from cancer prior to his death.

Taylor’s family posted a note on his Facebook page shortly before his death, writing, “It is with love and gratitude that we sorrowfully announce that our darling, amazingly brilliant and dynamic Meshach, the incredible father, husband, son and friend, has begun his grand transition.”

Taylor is most famous for his role as Anthony Bouvier in hit comedy Designing Women, which ran from 1986 to 1993.

In 1989, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. When the show was cancelled, he starred in TV comedy Dave’s World for four years until 1997.

His most recognizable film role was in 1986’s Mannequin, which starred Kim Cattrall. He also appeared in the 1991 sequel.
