Joan Rivers’ NYC Book Signing Became an Impromptu Marriage Ceremony

Joan Rivers got serious during a recent book signing when she agreed to officiate at an impromptu gay wedding.

The outspoken funny-woman was signing copies of her new book Diary of a Mad Diva at the Barnes & Noble store in New York City on Monday when one fan asked, “It says in your book, you’re an ordained minister. Can you marry me and my boyfriend?”

According to the New York Post, Rivers instantly agreed and the pair exchanged vows in front of the 400 fans attending the event.

Rivers tells the publication, “Something old was me, and something blue was my legs…It was such a New York thing. It was great.”

In the book, the comedian explains how she has previously officiated at the wedding of her party planner Preston Bailey.
