Casting May Lead to ‘The Walking Dead’ Character Death

A new casting rumor has cast doubt on the fate of one of the main characters in The Walking Dead. Jon Bernthal, who plays Shane on the show, is in early negotiations for the lead role in Frank Darabont’s new TNT series L.A. Noir, and it is unlikely that he would be able to do both roles.

There was a report in November that a cast member on the show was so angry with AMC firing Darabont from ‘The Walking Dead’ that they asked to leave the show. That actor had changed their mind but was ultimately decided to be written out anyway. In the comics, Shane is killed early on, so writing him out would be very possible. However, it should be noted that for the ‘L.A. Noir’ negotiations, “Discussions have barely begun and there’s no certainty a deal will come together.”
