NBC Developing ‘The Office’ Spin-Off

FanBolt

NBC is developing a spinoff of The Office. The show, set to premiere early next year, would be built around Dwight Schrute, played by Rainn Wilson. The spinoff would be introduced in an episode of The Office that will air later this season and would see Dwight head back to the Schrute family beet farm and bed and breakfast.

The show would not mean the immediate departure of Wilson from The Office, as he would return in the fall before segueing to the new series in mid-season.

  1. Dwight is one of my favorite characters ever but part of what makes him so great is that you only get little glances into his strange home life. I hated the garden party episode partly because it was just too much Dwight. I hope it will be good, but I doubt it.

  2. I’m not sure what to think about The Office having a spin-off with Dwight. I kind of think that he works well on The Office because he’s part of the ensemble, not the main character. I don’t think The Office needs a spin-off really, just focus on giving the audience quality episodes.

  3. This will be kind of like Cleveland becoming a spin off from Family Guy. Why Dwight?!?!?!?
