James Spader Leaving ‘The Office’

James Spader is not returning to The Office next season. Showrunner Paul Lieberstein has confirmed the news, saying that the departure was known from the start.

“James always wanted this to be a one-year arc, and he now leaves us having created one of the most enigmatic and dynamic characters in television,” said Lieberstein. “He’s been a great friend to me and the show, helping us successfully transition into the post-Michael Scott years, and I’m grateful for that.”

Also possibly leaving could be Mindy Kaling, who has a pilot being considered by FOX, and Rainn Wilson who may move Dwight to his own spin-off show.

  1. I haven’t kept up with the Office, but I hope it does keep running and at the same quality it has before, because it’s the only office drama that keeps me in stitches all the time.
