Alan Ball Leaving ‘True Blood’

Alan Ball is stepping away from his hit creation for HBO. Forbes reports that the writer/showrunner of True Blood is stepping down from the vampire series, citing exhaustion with the show as the main reason.

“Explanations include exhaustion, and maybe that the show seemed like it had tired blood last season,” reports the site. “Ball will still be with the show, I’m told, but a new regime will guide the fates of the characters into their new season.”

No official announcement has been made yet. True Blood‘s fifth season will begin this summer.
