Stan Lee Cancels Comic-Con 2014 Appearances Due to Laryngitis

Comic book legend Stan Lee has pulled out of plans to attend this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con event after falling ill with laryngitis.

The 91-year-old Marvel mogul, who co-created The X-Men, Spider-Man and The Avengers, had been booked to appear at talks and signings on today and tomorrow, but he has since axed the gigs.

His spokesperson tells The Hollywood Reporter, “Unfortunately Stan Lee has lost his voice due to laryngitis and is unable to attend this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and has regrettably had to cancel his appearances.

“Stan is otherwise well and in good health, though he is disappointed to miss the event and wishes everyone a great time.”

Lee’s next convention appearance is set to take place at the Alamo City Comic-Con in Texas in September.
