‘The Vampire Diaries’ Highlights and News from Comic-Con 2014

FanBolt attended The Vampire Diaries‘ 2014 Comic-Con press room yesterday, and there was some pretty cool news on what to expect from the upcoming season.

Fans gathered for a glimpse of Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Kat Graham, Matt Davis and executive producer Julie Plec, but before they headed to the panel, we got to ask them our questions about what’s in store for the residents of Mystic Falls.

Julie Plec confirmed that four months will have passed when the series returns. Elena will head back to college next year, and all of the characters are dealing with their various losses in their own ways. While there’s always time for romance in spite of the drama on the show, the subject of relationships wasn’t something Plec was able to tease. (Sorry guys – We asked!)

Julie Plec is more than aware of the massive ‘ship fanbases, and while she wouldn’t tease much on the relationship front for the main trio, she did comment that when it comes to Delena (Since they won the MTV Fandom Awards for Best Ship a few days ago), “You kinda want to slip something in for them.”

Caroline will have “an incredible storyline” next season, with Plec stating that she is “trying to pick up the pieces” following the events of last season. When it comes to Paul Wesley’s opinion on Stefan and Caroline, he’d prefer the two “make out and get sexy… just go at it.”

Paul Wesley said that Stefan won’t be focused on love for the first few episodes. But Ian Somerhalder did give us some details about Damon and Bonnie’s interactions in the upcoming episodes, saying that their relationship “is going to create some really cool stories.”

When the question of whether or not there was an ending in sight for The Vampire Diaries Ian Somerhalder simply replied, “This season could very well be our last.” Make of that what you will fans.
