Zoe Saldana Drew ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Inspiration from Bullfighting

Expectant mom Zoe Saldana drew inspiration for her Guardians of the Galaxy character’s fighting style from a friend’s art project.

The star plays alien Gamora in the film and explains when she first took on the role she wanted to give the character a more unique fighting style after seeing an art project about a matador bullfighter.

She tells Good Morning America, “We were having dinner with one of (my husband’s) art colleagues and she was showing us her latest art expo and it was about a bullfighter and she was taping this bullfighter dancing in slow motion the dance of death, sort of seducing the bull, and it was the most graceful type of dancing.

“It was around the time I was pondering whether or not I was going to do Guardians and I thought, ‘Oh my God, I should and she should totally be a bullfighter instead of just a martial artist’.”
