Kristen Schaal and the creative crew of the new Toy Story special, Toy Story That Time Forgot, sat down with press at San Diego Comic Con 2014 to talk about what fans can expect to see from this new addition to the Toy Story cannon. Most of the original cast is back, with the notable exception of John Ratzenberger (wait, this is still a Pixar project, right?).
Kristen Schaal gave us an animated summary of the film exclaiming, ” Trixie gets to a playdate at Bonnie’s friend’s house, Mason, and she’s introduced to a whole new world of toys that he got for Christmas called Battlesaurs. So Trixie’s excited because she feels like she’s never been played with like a proper dinosaur by Bonnie and now there’s all these Battlesaurs, which are this whole new creation of toys that Steve created of dinosaurs with battle gear on. And then Trixie, she gets battle-geared out and Rex gets long arms…long battle arms.”
Galyn Susman, who worked on the original Toy Story and Toy Story 2, says that expanding the Toy Story universe is “a lot of fun. Especially when you look and you see how people are attached to Toy Story world it’s really fun when you’re creating a new character and you don’t know, you know, maybe this one will be part of the legacy…will they think of Reptilus as a Toy Story toy…I’ve created a Toy Story toy…that’s pretty exciting.”
And just in case any of you were wondering about Trixie’s ability to kick butt, Shaal claims she “kicks butt like real hard, like Uma Thurman hard… Kill Bill!”
