Benedict Cumberbatch Joins ‘Jungle Book:Origins’

Idris Elba has got some fierce competition as he prepares to voice tiger Shere Khan in one of two new movie adaptations of The Jungle Book– fellow Brit Benedict Cumberbatch will play the big bad cat in the other.

The Sherlock star has just signed on for Warner Bros.’ adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s beloved adventure tale, Jungle Book: Origins, which Lord of the Rings star Andy Serkis will direct, using the latest motion capture technology.

Jon Favreau will take charge of the rival Disney live-action/animation project production, which features the voices of Elba, Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, Sir Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken and Lupita Nyong’o.

The Disney film is expected to hit cinemas first, in October, 2015, while Jungle Book: Origins has a projected release date of October 21, 2016.

With the amazing cast that’s shaping up for both, which of the two films are you most excited about seeing in theaters?
