Halt and Catch Fire fans were in for a shock and treat to learn that the AMC show has been renewed for a second season, after getting off to a shaky start during its premiere season.
It was announced today that the show would return for another season next year and series creators Chris Cantwell and Chris Rogers along with showrunner Jonathan Lisco are extremely happy about the announcement. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to continue telling this story. Our series about creation, innovation, and taking bold risks wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for our partners at AMC, a network known for these very things,” Lisco said. “Harnessing the momentum of our first season, this next chapter will take the rich characters our audience has come to love in new and surprising directions.”
The show debuted to mediocre numbers during its first season, with the season finale only pulling in 574,000 viewers. The renewal displays AMC’s “history of demonstrating patience through the early seasons of new shows, betting on talent and building audience over time,” as stated by AMC President Charlie Collier.
