Zac Efron and Robert De Niro are teaming up to star in new adult comedy Driving Dick Kelly.
The film, formerly known as Dirty Grandpa, stars De Niro as a recently widowed, salacious U.S. Army veteran who manages to trick his uptight grandson, played by Efron, to drive him to Florida for spring break.
According to TheWrap.com, veteran actors Jeff Bridges and Michael Douglas were also up for the role that eventually went to De Niro.
Efron, who’s currently filming Max Joseph’s DJ movie We Are Your Friends with “Blurred Lines” model Emily Ratajkowski, performed an impersonation of De Niro in college comedy Neighbors earlier this year. He also previously starred in 2011’s New Year’s Eve with the legendary actor, but the two did not share any scenes together.
Barry Josephson, who’s worked on other projects such as Enchanted and Bones, is set to produce the film.
