George Clooney to Appear in ‘Downton Abbey’

George Clooney is to reunite with his The Monuments Menco-star Hugh Bonneville by making an appearance in hit British period drama Downton Abbey.

The Hollywood star has shot a number of scenes for the show’s upcoming charity film which is part of the ITV network’s Text Santa drive and is due to air in the U.K. in December.

Clooney will reportedly play an American wedding guest in the festive installment.

A source tells Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “This is the biggest moment in Downton history and shows it’s now the biggest drama in the world. All the plans have been shrouded in secrecy because George was determined for his role not to leak out… George and Hugh (Bonneville) became really close filming the movie (The Monuments Men)… so Hugh put the wheels in motion to make it (the Downton Abbey appearance) happen.”

Clooney was reportedly spotted at England’s Highclere Castle, where the show is shot, in May, sparking rumors he was scouting for a potential wedding venue as he prepares to exchange vows with his fiancee Amal Alamuddin. The couple is set to marry in Italy later this month.
