Ben McKenzie Suffers Minor Head Injury on ‘Gotham’ Set

Ben McKenzie is recovering from a minor head injury following an accident on the set of his much-anticipated new show Gotham – on his birthday.

The star was filming a fight scene for the new series, which debuts on September 22, when he accidentally hit his head on a concrete wall and had to be taken to the hospital on Friday.

He updated fans on his condition while receiving stitches, writing on Instagram, “Happy Birthday to me. Fight sequence gone awry. Don’t ram your head into concrete pillars kids.”

He added, “Holy concrete wall, Batman!”

He continued, “Doc Sherman at New York-Presbyterian, you are a career saver. Thanks for stitching me up nice. Back to work Monday.

Gotham is described by FOX as an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. It follows the career of Detective James Gordon as he investigates the murder of local billionaires Thomas and Martha Wayne and learns to navigate the often-underhanded politics of Gotham’s criminal justice system. We’ll get to see a young Bruce Wayne aka Batman, Selena Kyle aka Catwoman and a young Oswald Cobblepot aka Penguin, among other Gotham villains.

You can watch the Gotham series premiere on Monday, September 22, at 8/7c on FOX.

  1. Glad that Ben’s okay despite some scary and messy moments. Not the way to end a birthday. Looking forward to seeing him on TV again starting next Monday!
