‘Falling Skies’ Halts Production Following Security Guard’s Death

A security guard on the set of Steven Spielberg and Noah Wyle’s TV drama Falling Skies has been killed after he was hit by a runaway truck.

The unidentified man lost his life after he was pinned between the truck and a tree on Monday night.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the fatal accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Monday in Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver. A spokesperson for WorkSafeBC, the worker’s compensation board for the province, told the site that the worker was hired to conduct security and the incident occurred when he was standing near a 5-ton unattended truck parked on a slope. The spokesperson also said that the tailgate on the truck was down in order to off-load equipment, and at some point the truck rolled backwards, trapping the guard between the tailgate and a tree.

Filming on the fifth and final season of the TV series has been temporarily halted as local police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police investigate the incident.
