Tim Burton’s ‘Big Eyes’ Trailer Showcases Tension Between Margaret and Walter Keane

Tim Burton is a master of the fantastic and outrageous, and seeks to prove to audiences that the truth can indeed be stranger than fiction on occasion with his newest project Big Eyes.

Big Eyes tells the true story of artist Margaret Keane, played by Amy Adams in what looks like it could turn out to be a stand-out role for her, and her husband Walter, played by vet Christoph Waltz. Margaret’s doe-eyed paintings were sold under the name of her husband with the pretense that no one would buy a woman’s artwork. The pair became embroiled in controversy after Walter began taking credit, both in public and private, for Margaret’s paintings.

Margaret Keane has been commissioned to paint actresses such as Joan Crawford’s and Natalie Wood’s portraits, and was even commissioned by the film’s director Tim Burton to paint a portrait of then-girlfriend Lisa Marie back in the 90s.
