George Clooney Marries Amal Alamuddin in Venice

George Clooney is a bachelor no more after tying the knot with Amal Alamuddin in Venice, Italy.

The 53-year-old groom wed the British human rights lawyer at the Aman Canal Grande resort on Saturday in a ceremony officiated by journalist and former mayor of Rome, Walter Veltroni.

A statement released by his representative to People.com reads: “George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin were married today in a private ceremony in Venice, Italy.”

Guests at the nuptials included Clooney’s Ocean’s Eleven co-star Matt Damon, Ellen Barkin, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt and his best pal Rande Gerber and his supermodel wife Cindy Crawford.

The newlyweds are expected to continue their celebrations in Venice throughout the weekend and take part in a civil ceremony at the 16th Century Cavalli Palace on Monday.

It is the star’s second union – he was previously wed to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 2003 and famously swore off marriage until meeting 36-year-old Alamuddin last year. They became engaged in April this year.
