Katy Perry Set to Perform at Super Bowl XLIX Half-Time Show
Pop star Katy Perry has reportedly landed the coveted Super Bowl half-time gig.
Perry has been among the top choices to headline the show since August, and made light of all the speculation during a visit to ESPN’s College Game Day show this past Saturday, revealing she has been having “some conversations” about performing at the half-time show, adding, “I would be honored, of course, but I have let them know that I am not the type of girl that would pay to play the Super Bowl.”
National Football League officials courted controversy this summer when they reportedly asked the artists under consideration to pay to play the gig in return for the exposure the performance at the big game assures them.
At the time, Rihanna and Coldplay were also on the shortlist.
Super Bowl XLIX will be broadcast from Arizona on February 1.
