Robert Downey Jr. Returning as Iron Man in ‘Captain America 3’

Robert Downey Jr. is reportedly set to reprise his Iron Man role in the upcoming Captain American 3.

The Oscar nominee is in final negotiations to bring billionaire Tony Stark and his superhero alter ego to the big screen once again for the third installment of the Captain America franchise, according to Variety.

Downey, Jr. has recently kept fans guessing to whether there will be a fourth film in the franchise, but if he signs on for Captain America 3, it will mark the third upcoming film in which he reprises his role – he has already suited up for The Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Avengers 3.

Captain America 3 is slated to begin production next spring right here in Atlanta with the film hitting cinemas in May, 2016.
