NBC Developing ‘Marley & Me’ TV Series

NBC is developing a TV series based on the 2008 film Marley & Me. Jenny Bicks (Men in Trees) is writing the show as a single-camera comedy.

The new show has a pilot commitment from NBC with David Frankel is attached to direct. 20th Century FOX TV is producing the show with the original film’s producer Karen Rosenfelt alongside Bicks and Frankel.

The TV series will reportedly pick up from the end of the 2008 film. John and Jenny Grogan (Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston in the film) and their three kids move back to Florida where John can start writing his newspaper column again. The family decides to adopt a stray puppy that lands on their doorstep, and they use Marley’s old leash and tags for the dog, who is just as destructive and willful as the original Marley.
