ABC Developing ‘Bachelor Party’ Series

ABC is working on a half-hour comedy series based on the 1984 movie Bachelor Party.

It was originally directed by Neal Israel (Surf Ninjas) and starred Tom Hanks (Saving Mr. Banks).

The new series, co-created by New Girl writers and producers JJ Philbin and Josh Malmuth, will be produced by 20th Century Fox (Fox produced the film), Jason Winer’s Small Dog Picture Co. and The Walcott Co. (the production label from Jake Johnson and director Max Winkler).

Bachelor Party will look at relationships and marriage through three couples: one about to get married, one recently divorced and one falling in love. The new series will follow the anthology format, with each season examining a different wedding party.

Philbin will executive produce with Winer, Winkler, Johnson and Small Dog’s Renate Radford. Malmuth will co-executive produce. Walcott’s Mary Lee serving as producer. Winer and Winkler will switch off as directors if it goes to series. Winer will direct the pilot.
