Christian Bale Set to Portray Steve Jobs in Danny Boyle Directed Biopic

Christian Bale’s role as Steve Jobs in director Danny Boyle’s new biopic has been confirmed by the project’s screenwriter.

The Dark Knight star became the frontrunner to portray the late Apple co-founder in the film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Walter Isaacson’s bestselling biography after Leonardo DiCaprio dropped out of the project to make The Revenant.

Aaron Sorkin, who has written the script for the film, has now confirmed Bale will step in for DiCaprio.

He tells Bloomberg.com, “We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that’s Chris Bale. He really is a phenomenal actor…

“He didn’t have to audition. Well, there was a meeting. The role is an extremely difficult role. He has more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined… So it’s an extremely difficult part and he’s going to crush it.”

Ashton Kutcher previously portrayed Jobs in the critically-mauled 2013 film Jobs.
