Joshua Jackson Wanted to Quit Acting After ‘Dawson’s Creek’

Joshua Jackson wanted to quit acting after shooting hit TV series Dawson’s Creek because the grueling schedule left him “burnt out”.

The actor began making movies as a teenager, but it was his role as Pacey Witter in the popular teen drama that launched him into teen idol status.

The show wrapped in 2003 following a six-season run, but filming more than 20 hour-long episodes a year took a toll on Jackson by the end of the series.

In an interview with Elle magazine, he says, “At that time in my life what I wanted to do was not be an actor. I was quite burnt out. It’s a lot of work. And on that show we were doing 22 episodes a year.

“It’s a grind. Truthfully, the process of making 22 episode of television a year is not very pleasant. I just wanted to stop. It wasn’t until the following year when I went and did a play in London that I actually enjoyed being an actor again.”

Jackson has since returned to the small screen, including his five-season stint on sci-fi series Fringe and his current supporting role on new drama The Affair.
