Disney’s ‘Big Hero 6’ Tops Box Office for Opening Weekend

Disney bosses have another huge animated hit on their hands thanks to a large marshmallow-like superhero.

Big Hero 6 has rocketed to the top of the box office, taking in an impressive $56.2 million during its opening weekend.

The film kept director Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi adventure Interstellar from claiming the top spot by $4 million.

Both films were well ahead of third-placed Gone Girl, which picked up a $6.1 million ticket sales boost in its fifth week on release in America.

Horror film Ouija and Bill Murray’s comedy St. Vincent round out the new top five.

FanBolt’s Editor-in-Chief Emma Loggins had the opportunity to review Interstellar and described it as “stunning” and said that it’s “a pretty stellar movie that is well worth seeing”.
