Nintendo Anounces Newest Wave Of Amiibo Figures
Nintendo has been getting consumers ready for their new Amiibo figures, their attempt at joining the market of figures utilizing NFC that communicate with videogames, by planning to release some alongside Super Smash Bros. For Wii U. These figures are branded for the game, so the launch timing makes sense. Within the first releases of figures, eager gamers will see figures of characters like Mario, Peach, Marth, Samus, and others. But now Nintendo has announced the characters who will join the Amiibo roster in the next wave. Coming out in February 2015, the Amiibo roster will be expanded with Toon Link, Ike, Sheik, Lucario, Bowser, Shulk, Meta Knight, Rosalina and Luma, King Dedede, Mega Man, and Sonic. Nintendo also goes on to reiterate in the video that these Amiibo figures will work with other games, such as Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors, with their own unlockable content in the games.
Also mentioned in the video is the note that some Amiibo figures may end up exclusive to select retailers. It seems that one of these retailer-exclusive figures is actually Shulk, as his Amiibo can only be purchased at GameStop, according to their website. The Shulk Amiibo being exclusive to GameStop is a bit interesting, as his game, Xenoblade Chronicles, was also exclusive to the retailer upon release.
I personally do plan on picking up several different Amiibo figures to collect, though of the six fighters I mainly want figures for, only Little Mac and Captain Falcon have been announced so far. I’m still holding out patiently for future announcements of Zero Suit Samus, Palutena, Pac-Man, and Duck Hunt Amiibos, that way I can get my main go-to fighters roster all in plastic Smash-trophy-inspired goodness.
