Jennifer Lopez Was Sir Mix-A-Lot’s Inspiration for ‘Baby Got Back’

Sir Mix-A-Lot has revealed Jennifer Lopez was his original inspiration for hit tune “Baby Got Back”.

The track, in which the MC praises the female backside, has become a hip-hop classic since its release in 1992, and Sir Mix-A-Lot, real name Anthony Ray, owes much of his success to the Latina superstar.

He tells TMZ that he was inspired to write the track after spotting ‘Fly Girl’ Lopez shake her now-famous rear on sketch comedy series In Living Color – the show that turned the singer/actress into a star.

Lopez turned out to be good luck for Sir Mix-A-Lot – he won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance with the song in 1993.

The song is definitely still relevant as well. Nicki Minaj recently sampled it for one of her latest hits, “Anaconda”.

No word from J-Lo on how she feels about being Sir Mix-A-Lot’s muse.
