Oscar Issac Cast as Apocalypse in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

Oscar Issac is set to bulk up and play it bad after landing the villainous role of Apocalypse in the next X-Men movie.

The Inside Llewyn Davis star recently wrapped shooting on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the highly-anticipated seventh instalment in the popular George Lucas film franchise, and now he is joining another sci-fi blockbuster series.

Isaac will portray the titular comic book character in X-Men: Apocalypse, the most powerful mutant in the X-Men universe.

He joins a cast which includes Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, James McAvoy as Charles Xavier and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, while Channing Tatum is rumored to be making his debut as Gambit in the forthcoming film.

Bryan Singer will return to direct and production is due to begin early next year, ahead of a May, 2016 release.
