Julie Plec Discusses the Future of ‘The Vampire Diaries’

During a recent set visit that FanBolt did for The Vampire Diaries, we had the chance to sit down with executive producer and writer Julie Plec and ask her about the future of the series. Are we closing in on the end? Series star Ian Somerhalder had made a comment to press at San Diego Comic-Con this year that hinted that perhaps we were. However, Plec says not to worry.

“Right now I feel like we’re in a really good creative groove. The show feels really good, and we all as writers, and the actors, are really jazzed about the content and excited about the stories that we’re telling.” Plec answered. “In a way, it’s come back around to season one in terms of its feeling and grounding it all in relationships and characters – and suspense and tension. So I feel like we can keep going. We’ve got people ready and willing to keep going”

Any thoughts on the where Julie wants Elena to end up – or who she wants Elena to end up with? She’s not quite willing to give that away just yet.

“I don’t really want to talk about the end game of Elena’s character. I think that is the end game of the series. I don’t want to give that up.” Plec commented.

  1. I hope that there will be 10 seasons like Supernatural. I feel like that is the perfect amount of seasons. Anything else feels too little or maybe even too much.
