Lauren Graham and Ellen DeGeneres Bring Talk Show Host Comedy to NBC

Lauren Graham has lined up her next gig as the star and writer of a new TV series about a late night chat show host.

The actress will wrap up a seven season run on acclaimed drama Parenthood next year, but she has already landed a job on NBC in a program called Kate On Later.

Graham will star as a woman who is offered a job to host a late night talk show, reflecting the real life transition that occurred at NBC earlier this year when comedian Jimmy Fallon took over The Tonight Show from veteran Jay Leno, and most recently with Stephen Colbert and James Corden securing hosting duties for late night shows on rival network CBS.

Graham will also co-executive produce the project with daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. The two previously developed the small screen adaptation of Graham’s bestselling novel Someday, Someday, Maybe, but bosses at the CW network opted not to pick up the drama.
