Benedict Cumberbatch Confirmed as ‘Doctor Strange’

It’s official! Marvel has announced they’ve found their Doctor Strange in Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch.

After months of speculation, the star has finally signed on to play neurosurgeon turned Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Stephen Strange. “Stephen Strange’s story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity,” said Producer Kevin Feige in a statement to Marvel today. “In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character.”

The film, according to Marvel, will follow Doctor Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers a hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.

The film is set to be directed by Scott Derrickson and Jon Spaihts is writing the screenplay.

You can catch Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange when the film hits theaters November 4, 2016.
