‘Selma’s David Oyelowo to Star Opposite Lupita Nyong’o in ‘Americanah’
David Oyelowo has landed a role opposite Lupita Nyong’o in the big screen adaptation of critically-acclaimed romance novel Americanah.
The Selma star is rounding out a highly successful 2014 by joining the Oscar winning-actress in the film, based on the Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie book about a love story between two young Nigerian immigrants.
According to Variety, who broke the news, Brad Pitt is producing the film through his Plan B production banner, the same one that produced Selma. Nyong’o is also producing, as well as Andrea Calderwood.
Oyelowo has been a top contender at this awards season thanks to his role as U.S. civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. in Selma, landing a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor.
The film is currently searching for a writer and director.
There is also no date set for production to begin at the moment.
