Edward James Olmos Joins Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Edward James Olmos is heading back to TV after landing a role on superhero spin-off series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Miami Vice and Battlestar Galactica star will portray a character called Robert Gonzales, whose appearance brings “massive repercussions” for series lead Clark Gregg’s Director Coulson and his team of secret superheroes.

Further details about Olmos’ part have been kept under wraps, but the show’s executive producer Jeph Loeb has teased fans by stating, “Edward James Olmos brings an amazing gravitas to any role he inhabits, something we knew we needed for Robert Gonzales.

“When Olmos first appears on our series, everyone will have to take notice – including our favorite agents.”

The Oscar nominee’s last TV credits came in 2011, when he voiced a dog in Eureka and appeared as Professor James Gellar on Dexter.

What do you think of Olmos’ addition to the cast? Are you excited to see him return to television? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
