Jeremy Renner Responds Criticisms Over Jennifer Lopez Remarks

Jeremy Renner has urged critics to lighten up after he was blasted online for making a crude comment about Jennifer Lopez’s revealing dress at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

The Avengers star was presenting an award with the lovely Latina at the Hollywood ceremony when Lopez, wearing a dress with a plunging neckline, volunteered to open the envelope to unveil the winner, stating, “I have the nails.”

Renner couldn’t help but glance at her exposed chest as he came up with a response, quipping, “You’ve got the globes, too.”

The singer/actress laughed off the cheeky remark onstage, but viewers at home weren’t so forgiving and lambasted Renner online for his bad behavior, with some even accusing him of sexually harassing Lopez.

The backlash prompted newly-single Renner to take to Twitter on Monday to hit back at his detractors, insisting they shouldn’t take the off-the-cuff comment so seriously.

Responding to the criticism, the unapologetic actor shared a photo of the pair onstage at the awards show and wrote, “A reminder not to take this s**t so serious. Thanks Jennifer — You’re a gem.x #goldenglobes #hadtosayit #jlo (sic)”.

Renner’s estranged wife, Canadian model Sonni Pacheco, filed for divorce in December after just 10 months of marriage. The former couple has a young daughter, Ava Berlin.
