‘Glee’ Star Naya Rivera Apologizes for Those Dumb Showering Comments
Naya Rivera has apologized for questionable comments she made about the hygiene differences between “white people” and other cultures on a TV show, insisting she was just joking.
The Glee star was a co-host on The View on Tuesday, and took part in a panel discussion about daily showering rituals.
Rivera, who has African-American and Puerto Rican roots, admitted that since marrying a white man, Ryan Dorsey, last year, she has become more aware of the hygiene rituals between cultures.
She said, “I have to say I have a theory about showering… I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnics. I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing.”
The 28-year-old’s remarks were met with backlash on Twitter, prompting her to address the drama when she returned to the show on Wednesday, when she said, “Yesterday we were talking about a study that says you’re supposed to shower once or twice every three days. I had an opinion on it that was supposed to be a joke. Apparently it didn’t go over so well. It was supposed to be a joke, but I apologize if anyone was offended…”
No Naya, you were serious. We all know you were serious and we also know you shower 2-3 times a week.
